ABOUT CDTF

The truck driving profession is one of unlimited opportunity.  With completion of a relatively short training program, students can expect to begin their careers with compensation levels starting at $36,000 - $38,000 per year.  In addition, there are generally jobs available in virtually all areas of the country.

Successful drivers can develop careers well beyond these compensation levels, often with company benefit packages that include insurance packages, bonuses and retirement plans.

The Commercial Driver Training Foundation, Inc. (“CDTF”) was established to help improve the quality of truck driver training, assist training programs in offering quality training opportunities, assist students in attending training programs, and promote the occupation.

The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established under the laws of the District of Columbia.  CDTF is governed by a Board of Directors with a collective experience of more than a century of training new entrants into the industry.

The first undertaking of the Foundation was the creation of a Military Scholarship Assistance Program to help veterans and active duty personnel in obtaining the training necessary to succeed in the trucking industry.  Under this program, CDTF has made available in calendar-year 2006 more than 2,200 partial scholarships.
